Dunstan welcomes applicants for a registrar fixed term position from August 2023 until January 2024.
Applications for other time periods will also be considered.
This 6 month run is accredited for Rural Hospital Medicine training and fulfils the optional GP run for Emergency Medicine Training.
Dunstan Hospital is a 24 bed acute care rural hospital located in Clyde, Central Otago.
Registrars will work alongside our enthusiastic senior clinical team providing acute care and rural hospital inpatient care. We are well supported by specialist services in the area and work closely with local GP’s to care for a community of over 35,000 people. We service a large area including Roxburgh, Alexandra, Cromwell and Wanaka.
Dunstan Hospital provides a wide range of clinical services including: 24 hour acute care, inpatient care, rehabilitation and palliative care, and a 3-bed high dependency unit. We look after primary afterhours care from 6pm, and have on-site radiology (incl. CT) and lab who are on call overnight. In addition are a number of outpatient clinics and community services.
As a team we provide a highly regarded, supportive and quality learning environment for Registrars, with plenty of opportunity for practical clinical learning and experience, as well as weekly teaching sessions and regular simulations. For 2024 we will be employing three registrars in each 6 month rotation.
Dunstan Hospital has close links with primary care and we can facilitate links for GP training in the area if required.
Central Otago is a beautiful part of the country and is a welcoming community. The outdoors is on your doorstep with mountain biking, skiing and endless wilderness adventures. The area is also filled with vineyards and a great selection of excellent cafes and restaurants.
